Zimbabwe: Covid-19 kills 10 in the last 24 hours

Zimbabwe on Thursday recorded ten new Covid-19 deaths, taking the country’s total fatalities to 189, the Ministry of Health and Child Care has said. In its daily update the Ministry of Health said seven of the latest ten deaths were recorded in Harare alone, pushing the provincial tally to 110.

The country also recorded 41 new Covid-19 cases, of which 38 were local infections while three were returnees from South Africa. “41 New Cases and 10 Deaths reported in the last 24 hours (No new cases reported in Harare again -second successive day without new cases in Harare). The other deaths are from Harare, 1 from Bulawayo, Mashonaland Central (1) and Midlands (1). Case fatality rate has now been rising again and now stands at 3 percent as of today.

As of 27 August 2020, Zimbabwe has now recorded 6292 Cases 5010 recoveries and 189 Deaths,” it said. The Ministry said the national recovery rate of confirmed Covid-19 positive cases now stands at 79.6 percent while active cases have also gone up to 1 093.
