Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) team has been granted permission by the government to travel to Pakistan for a limited overs series against the hosts. Zimbabwe last toured Pakistan in 2015. “IT’S OFFICIAL! The Government of Zimbabwe has granted @ZimCricketv the permission to tour Pakistan for a limited-overs series scheduled for October-November,” ZC tweeted on Wednesday.
Pakistan had confirmed that they will host Zimbabwe between October and November, but the ball was now in the hands of ZC to convince the government to allow them to tour considering the coronavirus pandemic.
“Pakistan welcomes Zimbabwe in Pakistan! Though Zimbabwe will be missing the enthusiasm of Pakistani spectators during the tour but quality cricket will be experienced by Zimbabwe which will help them groom their cricket,” said one twitter user.
The government has already cancelled what would have been a home T20 series against Afghanistan, while attempts at playing domestic cricket have also been thwarted due to additional measures put in place by the government to curb the spread of coronavirus.
