Yesterday residents of Kuwadzana had a one on one interaction with the president where they spent about 15 minutes posing questions directly to him. This was during the president’s visit to Kuwadzana’s Shopping Mall for this month’s National Cleanup Day where he got his hands dirty cleaning up dirt.
Residents tasked the president on increasing prices of school fees , food items and council rates. The question and answer session was unplanned for but the president showed patience and listened wholeheartedly to all questions from community members. He promised to intervene in ensuring that school fees and council rates be reduced. He however jokingly told the residents that they replace meat with vegetables in their diet since they were complaining about the price of meat.
His excellency promised that government will be rolling out subsidies for cooking oil, rice, sugar, salt, soap, maize meal and bread. This is in an effort to ease the burden on vulnerable members of society.
On concluding, the president encouraged residents to be peaceful and avoid violence. He also urged them to follow proper channels when airing their grievances.
