Zimbabwe on Thursday reported 12 Covid-19 deaths in Harare and Matabeleland South, bringing the cumulative deaths toll to 53, the Ministry of Health and Child Care has said. “Today (Thursday) we report the results of (12) deaths which occured from 13-20 July 2020 in the community and on admission to casualty departments at Parirenyatwa and Sally Mugabe hospitals after investigations and post mortem were done,” said the Ministry in its latest update.
“These include 9 males and 2 females all from Harare and had respiratory symptoms and their PCR test came out positive. The death from Midlands Province is of male aged 58.” Also the southern African nation recorded 213 Covid-19 cases. These included 205 local cases and 8 returnees from South Africa who are isolated.
However, the country registered 37 new recoveries. “Since the onset of the Covid-19 outbreak on 20 March 2020, the total number of confirmed cases is 3 092, recovered 924, active cases 2 115 and 53 deaths,” the Ministry added.
