The largest referral hospital in Zimbabwe, Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in partnership with Higherlife Foundation is offering free of charge Covid-19 PCR testing and certification for students in Secondary Schools and Tertiary institutions.
The voluntary free of charge testing will take place between 15 and 22 March 2021 at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals casualty car park.
“150 students are targeted per day on a first come first serve basis. The testing will be done between 8am and 3.30 pm every day,” reads the statement. “Students coming for testing should bring their institution identity card or letter from the Principal of their school confirming their status.”
Meanwhile, adequate measures informed by World Health Organisation guidelines have been put in place to ensure schools reopen safely in the proposed phases, starting with examination classes today, without risking a spike in Covid-19 infections. As at 14 March 2021, Zimbabwe had 36 484 confirmed cases, including 34 043 recoveries and 1 503 deaths. To date, a total of 36 359 front line workers have been vaccinated.
