KZN Floods: 500 Relief Packages from the WeLoveU Foundation

The International WeLoveU Foundation (‘WeLoveU’) in KwaZulu Natal, joined by its Pretoria and Johannesburg members, donated 500 relief goods to 500 families affected by the deadly KZN floods. 

WeLoveU handed over the relief goods on 08 August 2022 at the Marianridge Community Hall in Pinetown. The Hall is occupied by displaced man, women and children whose homes and belongings were destroyed by the floods. The 500 boxes contained tin products, sanitary wear, instant porridge, maize meal, beans, salt and sugar.

The donation of the 500 relief goods by WeLoveU is part of its emergency relief campaign which aims to alleviate the burdens faced by refugees and disaster victims by providing health and hygiene support, refugee relief, food crisis alleviation and disaster relief effort. 

WeLoveU partnered with the Minister of Social Development, Lindiwe Zulu and the MEC for Social Development in KZN, Nonhlanhla Khoza to bring this initiative to life. 

Zulu thanked the Honorary Chairwoman of the WeLoveU foundation, Zhang Gil-jah, saying, “We are thankful to Zhang Gil-jah for remembering the South African flood victims, may the whole world be filled with your [her] grace.”

The occupants of the Marianridge Hall thanked the WeLoveU foundation volunteers for landing a helping hand in these unprecedented times. 

Spokesperson for WeLoveU, Lehlohonolo Makhokolo told Media Bypass that, “WeLoveU, since its official launch in 2001 has been carrying out humanitarian work with the heart of Mother in over 241 regions. It is the hope of the Chairwoman, Zhang Gil-jah that all people will live in the global family without loneliness and discrimination.”
